Gaywood Garden Club is welcoming new members

The Club started in the AGWC Civic Association area in 1955, but a few years ago we branched out to neighboring communities. Members range from veteran gardeners with decades of experience to newbies just getting started. We all share the love of gardening.

We are a member of the National Capital Area Garden Clubs and its District IV, the Central Atlantic Region, and the National Gardens Clubs Inc. As members, we have the opportunity to participate in a range of free activities, educational opportunities, and to receive informative newsletters from all the levels of the organization. We have received awards at the local and state levels almost every year for the last 15 years for our own Club newsletters and twice were awarded the national award among over 5,000 clubs.

The Garden Club has informal meetings and educational presentations, normally the first Wednesday of the month with the meetings starting at 7 pm and preceded by a brief social exchange as members join the meeting. At about 7:30, we have an educational presentation followed by a question-and-answer session on the topic and other gardening questions members may want to discuss.

Recently, our regular meetings and educational presentations have been conducted via Zoom. Social events and field trips are resuming after a pause for COVID and for the immediate future will be outdoors on decks or at parks such as Brookside Gardens or nursery tours as we gradually resume in-person operations. Bring your ideas for fabulous events and places with you and members will join in the gardening joy.

Anyone interested in joining, the annual fee is currently $10 for new members. Please contact Janice Fisher, President, for more information, at jfpfisher_1@juno.com.

Come join us in making gardens beautiful.
